I decided to go vegan 6 days ago. I went vegan to help my wife with her diet; she has a serious autoimmune disease that basically killed her kidneys and another that was transplanted from a good friend of mine. Eating a vegan diet helps my wife with her renal failure and also decreases the chances of her ingesting foods that may cause other autoimmune issues.
I’ve been cycling on and off a low-carb ketogenic diet for the past 2 years and have had much success with it. My energy levels were always through the roof while only eating 2x per day. My weight would yo-yo up and down give or take 8-10 pounds depending on how strict I was at keeping my carbs low.
I want to try out the vegan diet and see how it affects my energy, weight, athletic performance, and general health. As I mentioned, I am satisfied with the results of the low-carb high-fat (LCHF)diet and if veganism doesn’t work out for me, I’ll be back on LCHF in a heart beat.
